AI Assistants Have a Trust Problem

AI assistants promise to do more than answer questions. ERA analyzed 4,053 consumer comments to see which brands are earning love and where friction is getting in the way.

Each dot is one public post mentioning price, July to September 2026.

01When AI Stops Talking and Starts Acting

AI assistants are moving beyond conversation toward action. That raises the stakes. The more an assistant can access, recommend and act on a user’s behalf, the more trust becomes part of the product.

ERA analyzed 4,053 comments across five AI assistants to understand where emotional affinity is forming and what is preventing it from converting into advocacy.

02Love Can Still Get Trapped by Friction

The category averages 3.9% barriers versus 2.3% advocacy, showing that enthusiasm does not automatically translate into adoption or recommendation.

Town AI makes the tension clear. It carries a strong 117 Love Score, but also the category’s highest 5.0% barrier rate.

Takeaway: The more AI assistants can do, the more friction can limit their value.
